Once again, the students of Castlepollard Community College impressed the judges at this year's midlands Scifest Awards in Athlone IT. Students from 1st, 2nd and 3rd year who had qualified through the exhibition here in the college brought their projects to the regional level. Castlepollard Community College has a great tradition of achievement at this event and this year was no different with the award winners listed below. Well done to all who took part and a huge thank you to the Science Department who played a huge role preparing students for the exhibition this year.

  • Highly commended award in the Intermediate Group Life Sciences Category to Jenna Fullam, Emma Lancaster & Kirsty Fivey for their project “Computer and Dry Eye Syndrome”
  • Highly commended award in the Intermediate Group Life Sciences Category to Meghan Darcy and Rebecca O’Keefe for their project “Why Don’t You Drink?”
  • Second place in the AIT Health and Wellbeing award to Meghan Darcy and Rebecca O’Keefe for their project “Why Don’t You Drink?”
  • Highly commended Best Communicator award to Aaron McNamara for his project “Can Alpaccas Protect Vulnerable Farm Animals?”
