Positive Mental Health Week

1st January 1970

Under the guidance of Ms Smith and Ms Kiernan, students at the college took part in and experienced a range of activities with the aim of encouraging positive mental health and discussion on the issue in the college.

The week started with an emotional, yet inspirational talk from Fionnbarr Wlash, the father of Donal Walsh. The talk had such an effect on the students that the school held a 5KM walk on Friday to raise money for the Donal Walsh Live Life Foundation. In-keeping with the theme of the week: "Walking in other people's shoes" students were encouraged to wear odd shoes for the walk. Overall, the activity was a huge success.

On Wednesday 3rd, 5th and 6th Year students were given a talk by the Ana Liffey group on the effects of drugs. TY students took part in a "treat yourself" activity as they made pizzas in Home Economics for the whole college.

Throughout the week students were also thought encouraged to use mindfulness in their daily lives. 1st and 2nd Year students were also given a workshop on mindfulness by Ms Kiernan, Ms McManus and Mrs Smith.

Well done to all  who contributed to the success of Positive Health Week!
