National Drama Awards

27th March 2019

Over the last five years, Castlepollard Community College has achieved so much in the realm of Performance Arts, producing outstanding musicals, plays, music and a choir. National recognition for our students' talents has become a regular occurrence along with these productions. Castlepollard Community College has walked away with an award from the last three Briery Gap Drama competitions for their various productions.

This year was not different. To add to awards from 2017 and 2018, his year's entry, based on The Breakfast Club picked up two awards. Building on the best Newcomer Award in 2017, the college has shown it's development grabbing second place overall. An outstanding achievement for the staff, actors and all the backstage staff from our extremely talented Transition Year group.

The awards did not stop there however as Ciaran Butler Ennis, playing the role of John Fender, a misfit rebel, was deemed to be the best performer in the competition, picking up the award for Best Actor. This is an incredible achievement for Ciaran but it came as no surprise to his classmates and the teachers in the college having witnessed his various performances since he came ot Castlepollard in first year.

Congratulations also to the Director, Ms Leonard, producers Mr Gilsenan and Ms Judge and Transition Year Co-ordinator, Ms Hayes for their tireless work on the production over the year. Well done again to all involved!
