Local Enterprise Winners

12th March 2018

On Friday last, the 9th of March, two teams from Castlepollard Community College entered the Westmeath Enterprise Office Competition. The competition required second level students to create their own business. As students at Castlepollard Community College take part in an Enterprise module in Transtition Year, there was a strong interest from the college.

On the day, the college grabbed two awards for their work. The Award for Best Pitch went to the Freighmore’s Finest business which was founded by Luke Roddy, Theo Meyer and Ryan Haugh. The business made jams and marmalades from entirely local sources. The second award the college was able to bring home went to, The Exhaler business which was founded by Emma Lancaster and Megan D’arcy. The clever product which the girls developed is a holder for inhalers during sporting activities. This award gained great interest from the students present and was awarded the student-elected award.

A huge congratulations to our winners and all who took part and also a big thank you to Mr Gilsenan and Mr Murphy who helped the students with their products.
