BT Young Scientist
11th January 2018
Two Transition Year students, Rebecca O'Keeffe and Megan D'arcy will represent the school at the BT Young Scientist competition. Under the guidance of the Science Department and in particular their Science teacher, Ms Brady, the two students have compiled an intriguing and extremely relevant project which looks at the drinking culture in Ireland, with a particular focus on underage drinking.
The project is entitled, "Why don't you drink?" and addresses perhaps one of the most common socially based questions in our society. Among the objectives of the project are to:
- Identify common factors that influenced a teenager’s decision not to drink alcohol
- Use the information gathered by this research to design a campaign or strategy that would encourage all teenagers to abstain from alcohol until they reach at least 18
Best of luck to the girls who will present their project this week.
