A Stepping Stone on a Journey to Success

26th September 2018

Sian McLaverty(5th year) reporting:

Yesterday the under 16 camogie panel played Loreto, Navan in their opening fixture of the season. It's always tough to start with an away fixture but that did nothing to quench the ambition of the Castlepollard Community College squad.

In the end, it may have been a defeat but in the eyes of the players and onlookers, it was a step in the right direction. A step to improve on certain weaknesses, to improve on stamina and consistency. There were many impressive and physical tackles, including an impeccable block from Jemma Williams the wing-back, well practiced hooks of the hurl and a motivational team spirit presented by all.

It was the first game of the year, giving the team an insight on the challenging, yet exciting year ahead. A fantastic game from Jenna Fullam who although doesn’t play club camogie, gave 100% determination and performed exceptionally. A brilliant performance from the scorers, Elisha Gavigan, Kayleigh Fagan, Shauna Cribbon, Jemma Williams, Rachel O’Neill, Caitlin Dobson Murtagh and Jessie Ginnell, but of course all made possible by the entire teams contributing effort.
